Quick answer: Sasuke Uchiha's sword is the Kusanagi, a straight-bladed sword he carries from Naruto Shippuden onward and through which he channels his Chidori lightning. Its name comes from Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, one of the three Imperial Regalia of Japan. A hand-forged 1060 carbon steel replica costs $189 at Katana Expert, and it is our best-selling sword overall.
This guide explains Sasuke's Kusanagi, how it differs from Orochimaru's sword of the same name, and the Naruto sword replicas available. Prices are those of October 2026 and can change during promotions.
Sasuke's Kusanagi explained
Sasuke takes up the Kusanagi during his time training under Orochimaru, and it becomes his main weapon in Naruto Shippuden. He uses it to channel lightning chakra, which lets the blade cut through almost anything and stun opponents on contact. Adult Sasuke still carries a sword in Boruto.
The name is borrowed from Japanese mythology. The real Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, the "grass-cutting sword", is one of the three Imperial Regalia of Japan, said to have been pulled from the tail of the eight-headed serpent Yamata no Orochi. That link is no accident: Orochimaru, Sasuke's teacher, is also named after the serpent and wields a different Kusanagi sword that he stores inside his body.
